Gunmen on motorbikes killed at least 18 people in a mosque in Nigeria’s northern state of Niger, two residents told Reuters on Monday.
They said the attackers arrived at the Maza Coca gathering in the Mashigo local government area at about 5 am.
“They came and went directly to the mosque and shot all the worshipers,” resident Abdul Ghani Hassan told Reuters.
He added that they kidnapped more than ten others. Bello Ayuba, another resident and witness, said at least 20 were injured.
A Niger state police spokesman did not immediately respond to calls or messages seeking comment.
