Former US intelligence employee Edward Snowden poured oil on the fire of questions and slander he raised yesterday in Iran by publishing a mysterious tweet in Farsi.

Today, Friday, Snowden tweeted again in Farsi, where he clarified what he meant with his first tweet, but this was done in a way no less ambiguous than it was yesterday.

Snowden’s new tweet read: “I’m just saying there’s a reason cats are so lovable.”

Snowden wrote in a tweet yesterday that “there are mice and ears in the walls,” which sparked falsehoods in the Iranian media that sensitive leaks may be waiting for officials or prominent figures in this country.

Snowden, who lives in Russia, faces criminal charges of espionage in the United States, due to his leaking to the media in June 2013 top secret data that revealed sensitive details of the espionage activities practiced by the US National Security Agency against citizens of many countries.
