In an interview with Al-Arabiya channel today, Tuesday, Saleh confirmed that the Libyan House of Representatives insists on holding presidential and parliamentary elections.
He considered that those who live from chaos in Libya do not want elections, adding that everyone in the Libyan authority now refuses elections for fear of their interests.
Saleh stressed that securing the elections is the responsibility of the unity government, calling for Arab, regional and international supervision of the elections in Libya.
Regarding his plans to run in the upcoming elections, Saleh said: “I have not yet decided to run for elections in Libya. I will announce my position on candidacy when the Electoral Commission opens the door for that.”
In another context, Saleh said: “We have no enmity with anyone,” denying the existence of “personal differences” with the Prime Minister of the Unity Government, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba.
He explained that the current dispute between the parliament and the government in Libya is due to the fact that “the Libyan government deviated from its goal and wanted to burden Libya with large debts.”
On the other hand, Saleh affirmed his insistence on removing mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya, adding that “the international community pledged to help remove mercenaries from Libya.”
