Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov
Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov predicts a new economic crisis in the United States, similar to the 2008-2009 crisis.
“In fact, the United States is preparing itself today as a huge financial bubble,” Pushkov wrote on his Twitter account. “Bubbles inevitably burst.”
He added that the recovery of the American economy after the pandemic comes thanks to the sale of securities and the increase in debt, which leads to a warming of the economy, noting that Russia has wisely withdrew from US government bonds during the past few years.
He continued, “The fall of the United States as a hegemonic power will not be limited to its defeat in Afghanistan itself, and it will not be limited to the field of geopolitics as well.”
And in the spring of 2018, Russia began reducing the volume of its investments in US state debt securities. These investments decreased in April 2018 from $96 billion to $48.7 billion, and in May 2018 to $14.9 billion. In March 2020, Russia reduced the volume of these investments by 3 times compared to February 2020, from $12.58 billion to $3.85 billion.
