WhatsApp chat backups on Google Drive is one of the easiest and simplest ways to switch from one device to another without losing important messages and photos/videos. Currently, WhatsApp backups do not count towards your Google Drive storage quota, but this may changes soon.

According to a report by WaBetaInfo, Google may stop offering unlimited storage for WhatsApp backups, and instead, WhatsApp users could be required to switch to a limited plan – 2000MB per user.

The website has also discovered a new section that WhatsApp is working on, and the new section will allow users to manage the size of the backup, and thanks to the section, users will also be able to exclude certain media to be included in the next backup, as the exact reason why WhatsApp developed this feature is unknown. .

But the report says there is a good chance that WhatsApp backups on Google Drive will count as a storage quota again, and with the new feature, the social messaging app plans to offer some options to its users to manage the size of the backup.
