Apple has loaded your iPhone with a hidden button that lets you control the phone without touching the screen, and best of all, it will make your life easier by letting you take screenshots and change the volume by simply tapping on the back of your phone.
It’s called “Back Tap”, and it was introduced with the iOS 14 software update that rolled out to iPhones in 2020.
To turn on the feature, make sure that you have updated to iOS 14 or later, to do this go to Settings, then General, then Software Update.
Then go to your settings.
Scroll down and tap “Accessibility” and then tap “Touch”.
Then scroll down to Back Tap.
You will have the option to turn on ‘double tap’ or ‘triple tap’.
Whichever one you choose gives you the same options.
Tap to see which features you can control now with a double or triple tap on the back of your phone.
They include taking screenshots, increasing or decreasing the volume, zooming in, scrolling, and more.
For example if you want to use Double Tap to take screenshots, click on the “Double Tap” option and then select “Screenshot”.
Now you should be able to take a screenshot by simply tapping on the back of your phone twice.
Keep in mind that this feature may not work if you have a thick phone case.
You can toggle the Back Tap controls features on or off at any time using the same steps.
