On the eve of the blessed Eid al-Adha, the Saudi authorities carried out the death sentence against four people of Bengali nationality who were involved in the murder of an Algerian minor girl, who tried to rape her. When she escaped from them, she fell from the sixth floor of a hotel in Makkah Al-Mukarramah during the days of the Umrah rituals.
The crime took place on September 14, 2010 against a 14-year-old girl of an Algerian father from Tlemcen and a French mother. The victim is Sarah Khatib, who lives with her family in France. She went to the holy sites to perform Umrah with her father and brother. While the girl was staying at the Al-Rashideen Hotel in the Gaza neighborhood of Makkah, four people of Bengali nationality followed her and rode the elevator with her. The criminals fled, but the Saudi police managed to arrest them.
The incident provoked the anger of the Algerian pilgrims, who showed solidarity with the girl’s father, camped near the hotel, and demanded that the punishment be imposed immediately and publicly on the accused. Many pilgrims of different nationalities also joined the solidarity movement with the Algerian girl. According to what was stated by the victim’s father at the time, Mr. Boumediene Khatib, his daughter asked him for permission and asked him to allow her to have dinner with a woman who lives in the same hotel, but after about an hour the victim’s father met the woman and asked her about his daughter, and she told him that she had not seen her, so he then proceeded to search for her After notifying the security, they told him that the body of a girl had been found in the hotel, and when he saw the body, he made sure that it was his daughter.
Upon examining the body, it was found that the victim was beaten and sustained injuries throughout the body, which confirms that she was assaulted. The girl’s father, Mr. Boumediene Al-Khatib, stated that his daughter practices taekwondo and has the ability to resist, and no one can get hold of her easily, and therefore he is certain that she defended She did not give up on herself.
After the autopsy, it was found that the girl was not sexually assaulted, but she received several blows from the aggressors who were referred to the Saudi justice, which condemned them for many years, and the verdict remained under appeal, until the final verdict was issued to execute the four Bengalis, who were executed before Eid al-Adha after the blessed Eid al-Adha. Almost 11 years of the crime, the file of the Algerian girl Sarah, who went to perform Umrah, died in a tragic accident and was buried in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
