Nabataeans –

Amman, Jordan ** December 2021: For the first time in the Arab Mashreq, and within the framework of cooperation between MasterCard and Jordan Kuwait Bank, the MasterCard World Elite card has been activated with biometric authentication at Jordan Kuwait Bank.

Jordan Kuwait Bank customers will be the first in the region to benefit from MasterCard’s industry-leading technologies. Where they will enjoy using easy and fast ways to pay for their purchases from any store through the approved fingerprint only, instead of entering the personal identification number (PIN), in a move that enhances the security levels of the card.

MasterCard’s innovation of biometric authentication combines the concept of electronic chips with the unique form of a fingerprint, so that cardholders can pay for their purchases more easily as it confirms the identity of the owner with the same accuracy as the PIN.

On this occasion, Jihad Khalil, Director of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the Levant region at MasterCard, said: “We are pleased to offer the MasterCard World Elite card with biometric authentication to our customers in the Kingdom of Jordan, who are no different from their peers in the region with their enthusiasm to experience the latest in electronic payment technologies. The card embodies the latest concepts of modern technologies, as it relies on fingerprints and biometric authentication, to become a modern and innovative solution for its holders of Jordan Kuwait Bank customers, and provides them with an advanced experience that adopts the highest levels of protection and security during payment using the card.”

The New Payments Index, which was recently launched by MasterCard to highlight the extent to which consumers in the region are using emerging payment technologies, revealed that nearly half of consumers in the Middle East and North Africa plan to use biometric authentication technologies such as walking method or fingerprint. Even two-thirds (66%) of respondents reported feeling safer using biometric authentication to verify when paying for their purchases rather than entering a PIN.

For his part, Suhail Salman, Head of Retail Business Development at Jordan Kuwait Bank, spoke about the ways to support the MasterCard World Elite card with biometric authentication from MasterCard to the bank’s customers, saying: “We are pleased to offer our customers an experience that is the first of its kind in the Arab Mashreq, where the card represents MasterCard World Elite biometric authentication provided by Jordan Kuwait Bank, the modern generation of credit cards, which will provide holders with the highest levels of security and peace of mind when paying for their purchases in the store.”

Jordan Kuwait Bank customers who hold MasterCard World Elite biometric authentication cards will also benefit from World Elite privileges that include modern lifestyles, travel services and insurance, which are designed to help these cardholders obtain exceptional experiences and secure a lifestyle that suits their unique needs.
