Dr. Ayman Hamza, spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, confirmed that the 9 electricity distribution companies at the level of the Republic, in coordination with the Electricity Police, are doing their utmost to control electricity thieves and preserve the state’s right to recover the looted funds by issuing theft reports to violators.

Hamza explained, in exclusive statements to “The Seventh Day”, that the Upper Egypt Electricity Distribution Company, in coordination with the Electricity Police, managed to collect 145 million pounds during the period from July 2018 to June 2021 in Luxor Governorate, explaining that this amount is the value of the records of electric current thefts, whether those were Edited by the Electricity Police or through the right of the judicial police.

Hamza said that 43 thousand 810 minutes were collected during the period, with a total value of 57 million pounds, by the Electricity Police, pointing out that the value of 99,757 minutes was collected during the period, with a total value of 88 million pounds, through the right of judicial arrest for employees of the Upper Egypt Electricity Distribution Company.
