Banks allow customers to activate the use of direct debit cards (DBT) linked to their bank account in cash withdrawals and purchases outside, but according to certain limits that should not be exceeded, whether on the day and month, according to the policy of each bank.

The banks aim to activate the use of bank account cards, prepaid cards, or credit cards to make it easier for customers to pay their purchases electronically outside Egypt instead of the suffering of managing the currency used in the country of travel.

Any customer can withdraw or pay electronically for his purchases using the account card in the same currency of the country in which he resides, but after deducting a fee equal to 6% on cash withdrawal, which is the commission for managing currency and using a machine outside Egypt, while the purchase commission is 3% of the total value of the customer’s purchases.

The limits for cash withdrawals or purchases using bank account cards vary according to the type of card (Classic for regular customers, Gold for medium customers, and Platinum for large customers).

Masrawy provides daily limits for cash withdrawals from ATM machines and electronic purchases outside Egypt, and the maximum for the month using bank account cards (DBT) from Banque Misr and Al-Ahly Bank of Egypt:

First – Banque Misr:

Classic Card: The limits of cash withdrawal outside Egypt are no more than 5,000 dollars per day or month, while purchases are available up to the limits of the card.

Gold Card: Withdrawal of cash outside Egypt does not exceed $5,000 per day or month, and purchases are available up to the card’s limits.

Platinum Card: Withdrawal of cash does not exceed 10 thousand dollars per day or month. Purchases are available up to the limits of the card.

Commission: 6% plus EGP 50 of the total cash withdrawal value. Purchases commission is 3% of the total purchase value.

Second – The National Bank of Egypt:

Classic Card: Limits for cash withdrawals from ATMs outside Egypt: equivalent to 20 thousand pounds in the currency of the country to which it is traveled per day, provided that it does not exceed the equivalent of 40 thousand pounds in the currency of the country to which the customer travels.

The limits of purchases using the classic card do not exceed the equivalent of 50 thousand pounds per day, and a maximum of 200 thousand pounds per month.

Gold Card: The limits of cash withdrawal using ATMs do not exceed the equivalent of 30 thousand pounds in the currency of the country to which it is traveled per day, and a maximum of the equivalent of 60 thousand pounds per month.

The value of purchases using the Gold Card is equivalent to 100,000 pounds per day from the currency of the country to which it is traveled, so that it does not exceed 250 thousand pounds per month.

Platinum card: cash withdrawal limits of 50 thousand pounds per day and no more than 80 thousand pounds per month, equivalent to the currency of the country to which it is traveled.

As for purchases, it does not exceed the equivalent of 250 thousand pounds per day and does not exceed 300 thousand pounds per month.
Commission: 6% plus EGP 30 of the total cash withdrawal value. Purchases commission is 3% of the total purchase value.
