Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Lukas Jasina said that his country hopes for the deployment of NATO forces on its borders with Belarus, against the background of the migrant crisis, hinting at the possibility of closing it.

The Polish official acknowledged the arrival of British soldiers to the border, noting that soldiers from other countries would successively arrive in the region, in parallel with sending 100 Estonian soldiers to Poland.

The official stressed that Warsaw “seeks more protection from the United States.”

For its part, Ukraine announced the start of a special security operation on the border with Belarus, with the aim of preventing a recurrence of the migration crisis at the border with its neighbor.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron held talks with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki about tightening sanctions against Minsk.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a telephone conversation with European Council President Charles Michel, stressed the need to coordinate relations between the European Union and Lukashenko’s government, warning of the “counterproductive results” of imposing sanctions against Minsk.
