(Manchester City), the English Premier League title holder, beat its host and struggling neighbor (Manchester United) 2-0 in a derby in Old Trafford, today, Saturday.
City started the match in a great way when, after seven minutes, they went ahead with an own goal by United defender Eric Bailly when he converted a cross from (Joao Cancelo) into his own net.
United, whose defense was shaky despite relying on three defenders at the back, relied on their goalkeeper (David de Gea) to stay in the match and the Spaniard saved a series of opportunities that were available to City.
But before the end of the first half, the coach’s team (Pep Guardiola) benefited from the repeated mistakes of the home defense, when a cross pass from Cancelo reached (Bernardo Silva) on the far post to put the ball past De Gea.
The coach’s team (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) did not achieve any victory in the last four matches at home and lost three of them. City occupies second place with 23 points, two points behind leaders Chelsea and one point in front of Liverpool, pending the outcome of the rest of the stage matches.
Manchester United’s balance froze at 17 points in fifth place, taking a new step away from the leading positions.
