DUBAI, 6th November / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the work of the 18th edition of the World Conference and Exhibition of the International Road Federation will start tomorrow, hosted by Dubai represented by the Roads and Transport Authority, under the slogan “Roads”. The Future” and continues until next Wednesday, with the participation of more than 250 speakers, experts and specialists in the field of roads, as the exhibition is expected to attract more than 1,500 visitors from 60 countries and more than 100 international and emerging companies.

The opening ceremony will include a speech by His Excellency Abdullah Al Moqbel, President of the International Road Federation, a speech by His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, and a speech by the speaker, Lord Philip Hammond, the former Minister of Finance in the United Kingdom, in addition to a ceremony honoring the personality of the World Road Union.

Over the four days of the conference, more than 70 sessions and discussion panels will be held covering strategic directions and a road map that reflects the most important policies and research in the field of roads, smart mobility, the use of artificial intelligence in the design and management of highways, guidelines for smart driving infrastructure, innovative paving materials, surveying techniques, and the “zero” strategy, which It contributes to providing an opportunity for the required investments in the field of research and development for the road sector, smart mobility, product marketing and support for profitable strategies that contribute to expanding the scope of business for researchers, manufacturers, consultants and decision makers in the road and infrastructure sector in the country.

On the second day of the conference, HE Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer will deliver a keynote speech in which he will address the future of roads and infrastructure sustainability. A session will also be held to review the next generation of road mobility, and another session will highlight the issue of transport after the Covid-19 pandemic, and a session on traffic safety and achieving zero road deaths.

The second day will witness the launch of the International Road Federation report entitled “Smart Traffic Systems for Climate Change”, as well as a ceremony honoring the winners of the International Road Federation awards. On the third day, a session will be held on the topic of knowledge transfer and competency development, and another to discuss the topic of reducing carbon emissions on the roads, while the fourth day is devoted to The conference organized field visits to a number of RTA projects, the most important of which are the Dubai Center for Intelligent Traffic Systems, the Dubai Water Canal, the Dubai – Al Ain Road Development Project, and the pedestrian crossing bridge in the Marina area.
