The United States announced that it is imposing sanctions on a parliamentarian and two businessmen in Lebanon for allegedly “undermining the rule of law” in their country.

The US Treasury said in a statement issued today, Thursday, that its new sanctions affect MP Jamil Al-Sayed and businessmen Jihad Al-Arab and Danny Khoury, stressing that “their steps have caused the collapse of good administration and the rule of law in Lebanon.”

The ministry held these people responsible for “achieving personal gains from the rampant corruption and nepotism in Lebanon and self-enrichment at the expense of the Lebanese people and state institutions.”
