DUBAI, 28th October, WAM/ The Arab Republic of Egypt has signed the basic charter of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation, as part of the work of the Seventh Arab Dialogue for Arab Space Cooperation, which was held in Dubai in conjunction with the International Astronautical Conference.
The basic charter of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation, representing the Arab Republic of Egypt, was signed by Dr. Mohamed Al-Qousi, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, and Salem Al-Qubaisi, Director General of the Emirates Space Agency, and a number of senior officials in the agency.
His Excellency Salem Al Qubaisi welcomed the signing by the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt of the basic charter of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation.
He stressed that the Emirates Space Agency has close relations with the Egyptian Space Agency, whether bilaterally or under the umbrella of the Arab Group Initiative for Space Cooperation, through the exchange of bilateral visits to exchange knowledge and experiences, learn about capabilities, discuss the latest developments, consolidate relations and discuss ways to activate bilateral cooperation and joint projects.
He pointed out that the initiative of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation, adopted and sponsored by the UAE, aims to strengthen Arab space cooperation, which leads to achieving an Arab global position in the field of space, a unified vision and fruitful cooperation in the interest of brotherly countries by benefiting from the developments of the space sector and developing its uses for peaceful purposes.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al-Qousi praised the successive positive developments witnessed by the Arab Group for Space Cooperation with the aim of enhancing prospects for cooperation in the space field between the brotherly Arab countries.
He pointed out that the Egyptian Space Agency, as one of the group’s founders, was keen to sign the basic charter of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation in presence and during an official visit to the UAE, as a translation of the depth of brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries in all fields, especially in the field of space.
The “Arab Space Cooperation Group”, which was launched at the initiative of the UAE and is based in Abu Dhabi, aims to encourage Arab space cooperation in all activities with common goals, achieve harmony in organizational practices between space agencies and coordinate the positions of the members of the group in order to adopt a unified opinion in regional and international forums. related to space, within the limits of the tasks and competencies entrusted to the group, and working on a broader and more comprehensive Arab space cooperation in the field of space.
It is noteworthy that the basic charter of the Arab Group for Space Cooperation, which was adopted during the fifth meeting of representatives of the member states of the group on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow in November 2019, aims to enhance the exchange of knowledge, technical expertise, experiences and information among the Arab member states in the field of space and encourage development and scientific research And innovation in the field of space in order to enhance the process of building space capabilities among members of the group and coordination in order to achieve harmony in space policies, laws and procedures and seek to unify them as much as possible by taking advantage of best practices and internationally approved standards and to encourage and support cooperation in the field of establishing space agencies or space programs in the countries that are It has no such agencies and cooperation with relevant regional and international organizations.
