The Kingdom of Spain will be the guest of honor at the Sharjah International Book Fair, in its 40th session, which will be held from 3-13 November at the Expo Center Sharjah, where it will present more than 25 activities, including literary seminars, discussion and reading sessions, and cultural and musical performances. It is presented by a group of talented Spanish writers, thinkers and artists, in addition to providing an opportunity for those working in the publishing sector to connect with Spanish publishers participating in the exhibition, forging partnerships, and exploring opportunities for cooperation in the field of translation, copyright and distribution.

The program includes cultural sessions, presented by Javier Gomez and Diego Avalos, scriptwriters for the series (Money Heist: La Casa de Papel), produced by Netflix, which has seen a mass success and has turned into a global phenomenon. And able to compete in the most prestigious international awards.

The list of Spanish writers participating in the guest guest events includes writer and journalist Gabi Martinez, author of the novel “Sailor Wang”, novelist and poet Irene Sola, whose works have been translated into 17 languages, including English, French, Dutch, Turkish and Arabic, and Mighty Mutopria, author of “Millions of Steps: Walking and Counting.” Children’s book writer and illustrator, Rossio Bonilla, author of “What Is the Color of the Kiss” and “The World’s Highest Mountain of Books”.

“La Caramba”

Participating in the program is the symphonic choral ensemble “Forma Antiqua”, one of the most prominent Spanish bands specialized in classical baroque music, founded by the brothers Aaron, Daniel and Pablo Zabico, and the recipient of several music awards. Fernandez, better known as “La Caramba”, specializes in the short tonadilla, or short musical operetta, that was performed on Spanish theaters in the eighteenth century.

It is noteworthy that the 40th edition of the exhibition, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority, under the slogan “Here is your book”, will witness the participation of 1632 publishing houses from 83 countries, displaying 15 million books, including 110,000 new publications, which are displayed for the first time. In this year’s session, which celebrates literature, knowledge and culture over 11 days.

Dubai Award

For its part, the Dubai International Holy Quran Award announced its keenness to participate in the exhibition, and in this regard, Counselor Ibrahim Mohammed Bumelha, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Award, said that the award is always keen to participate in all book fairs. In the Arab and Islamic world, especially the Sharjah International Book Fair, as one of the most important book fairs held in the Arab region and the Middle East, and receives great official, popular and media attention, and more than 970 activities and events, interactive workshops, and other events are held on the sidelines of it. And as the exhibition management hosts many literary, cultural and intellectual personalities, the Dubai International Holy Quran Award will participate in the exhibition with a wide range of its distinguished publications, which amounted to more than 137 publications in the field of Qur’anic studies, studies related to the Prophet’s Sunnah, studies of the Prophet’s biography, and studies Jurisprudence, Islamic culture series, translations, flags, scientific miracles and others.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival is also participating in the exhibition, based on the center’s keenness, represented by the Research and Studies Department, to be in a cultural forum rich in knowledge, rich in thought, arts and creativity. Participation in the Sharjah International Book Fair, for the eighth year, comes.

In this regard, Fatima Saif bin Hariz, Director of the Research and Studies Department at the Hamdan bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival, said: The exhibition is well known, and is leading in our time its efforts to recover the publishing industry in the world, and since it is a station that brings together the countries of the world seeking to develop The publishing sectors, in order to enhance the culture of reading, bring together a constellation of writers, and a momentum of heritage activities and various events, the Research and Studies Department is keen to present its publications, launch new ones, and review the fruit of its initiatives, including “My Document”, to be part of an annual carnival whose essence is the book.

Bin Huraiz added: In the context of introducing our local heritage, social values, and heritage symbols, we also celebrate all that the Center offers in all its departments to revive our national heritage.
