Barcelona has officially announced the dismissal of Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, after losing to Rayo Vallecano (0-1) on Wednesday, in the 11th round of the Spanish Football League.
And the official account of FC Barcelona on Twitter published a brief statement saying: “FC Barcelona has relieved Ronald Koeman of his duties as coach of the first team.”
Barcelona suffered its second defeat in a row in the League, after falling in the “El Clasico” meeting against its arch-rivals Real Madrid, in the last round, which is the third defeat for the Catalan team during this season.
Dutchman Ronald Koeman expressed his dissatisfaction with the loss against his host Rayo Vallecano, during statements reported by the newspaper “Marca” immediately after the match: “I do not know if my future is in danger or not.”
“We have players who can score like Aguero and Depay, that’s why I can’t complain about the team,” he added.
The Dutchman continued: “It was difficult for us to enter the match, Rayo Vallecano put a lot of pressure on us, the result is not fair, but it cannot be changed.”
The Barcelona coach explained: “The problem was not the performance, the opponent did not create many chances, we showed that we can compensate, it is unbelievable that we lost this match.”
And Koeman added, “The fall between the ninth and tenth places? We fell because we lost very influential players, which is also important.”
He stressed, “Does Barcelona aspire to win the La Liga title? There are many matches left. I am worried because of the team’s effectiveness.”
Koeman concluded his statements, saying: “As for the performance, we played and created chances, but this does not matter in Spain, it is better not to say anything else.”
