Lebanon.. Geagea failed to appear before the army intelligence and the military judge asks for the conclusion of the investigation

Beirut – “Al-Quds Al-Arabi: The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, was absent from the Intelligence Directorate of the Lebanese Army to hear his testimony about the events of Tayouneh, according to what “Al-Quds Al-Arabi” confirmed earlier, and this reinforced his decision not to appear before the intelligence based on the decision of the government commissioner. The Military Court, Judge Fadi Akiki, is the illegality of reporting and discretion in investigations and arrests, and the position of the forces’ supporters who surrounded the entrances to Geagea’s headquarters in Maarab to prevent him from leaving and ambushed him on the Yarzeh road, or that the request to be heard as a witness was a trap for his arrest and fabrication of files against him, as happened in 1994 .

In the latest information about the case, the Intelligence Directorate contacted the government commissioner at the Military Court to seek clarification about the next step after Geagea failed to appear before it, so he asked her to conclude the investigation and did not ask to take any other step, such as a subpoena or a search and investigation report.

It seemed that the competent authorities realized that targeting Geagea this time would not be easy or transitory in light of the determination of the forces’ environment to confront any “arbitrary” decision supported by the cover of Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, who announced his rejection of the arbitrary accusations and fabrication of files. So, despite the pressures exerted by Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement to take a judicial step against the head of the forces, I decided to be satisfied with what happened now, and not to provoke the Christian environment, especially in light of the Lebanese sympathy from the rest of the sects with what Geagea has become in the face of Hezbollah’s project.

Supporters and partisans of the Lebanese Forces headed in car convoys on Wednesday to Maarab, and “Al Quds Al Arabi”, which inspected the area, recorded that queues of cars lined up for kilometers from the junction of Ghosta and Daroun Harissa, all the way to a few meters from Geagea’s headquarters, where supporters gathered, raising Lebanese and troop flags and pictures of the head of the forces. . These processions moved from different areas in Bcharre, Akkar, Koura, Ashrafieh, Jabal, Zahle, Deir al-Ahmar and Kesrouan, after the church bells were rung.

Some wore the troops’ oil uniforms, and a youth group chanted a civil war-time chant saying, “Only the Sharqiah protects the Lebanese forces,” as they chanted against Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah. They were comments made by citizens to the Lebanese and foreign media that attended to cover the movement from in front of the Maronite Patriarchate in Bkerke to Maarab. Many declared their refusal to turn back the clock and allow the establishment of any new security system as an alternative to the Lebanese-Syrian security system, and considered that there was no confidence in the military judiciary dominated by Hezbollah.

The head of the forces did not give a speech or any speech in front of the crowd, but his wife, Representative Strida Geagea, contented himself with sending a word of thanks on her account on Facebook to all the solidarity activists, in which he said, “Thank you from the heart to all the heads of the parties, ministers, representatives, politicians, media professionals, activists, social actors and opinion leaders.” Those who stood by the truth and the truth against arbitrariness, injustice and maliciousness.” She said, “I extend my deepest thanks to all the Lebanese comrades, supporters and people who expressed their solidarity with Al-Hakim by coming to the vicinity of the party’s general headquarters in Maarab, after they had started yesterday to ring the church bells in solidarity in various regions. And I would like to tell you: No right has died behind demands, so how if you are all the ones who demand, and I have full faith that in the end nothing will be true but the right thing.” She added, “I would like to express to my family in the Bcharre district of my deep affection the moment I watched the videos of the bells ringing yesterday in the city of Bcharre and the various towns of the district. I would like to thank them for attending with large crowds around the general headquarters in Maarab, in addition to implementing a general closure that affected all institutions, shops and schools today in all towns in solidarity with Al-Hakim.”

Geagea had met the General President of the Lebanese Maronite Order, Abbot Neamat Allah Al-Hashem, in a remarkable visit, with its timing and dimensions, especially that the Order, which devotes its life to prayer, rarely takes positions on national and political affairs, except when it feels any danger, as happened with Abbot Charbel Kassis in 1975, when he joined the front. Lebanese at that time with Abbot Paul Noaman.

In turn, a number of MPs participated in the movement in front of Maarab, and announced positions refusing to summon Geagea. Representative Imad Wakim said: “What is happening is not just a summons by a pawnbroker judge, it is a confrontation: between truth and falsehood, between the state and the state, between Lebanon’s sovereignty and Iran’s hegemony, between reform and corruption, between restoring Lebanon’s health and remaining in the trench. Take sides, as always, for your homeland, rally around Maarab, so that we may join hands and confront.”

While the troop movement was progressing in full swing, a tweet came to the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gibran Bassil, to complete the attack he had begun on Geagea on the anniversary of October 13, accusing him of colluding with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri against the background of the response to the amendments to the electoral law that he had sent. President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, and against the background of the resentment of the move of Patriarch Al-Rahi, Bassil wrote: “When I talked about the complicity of the two-Tayouneh, the resurrection took place. This complicity we saw in the street over the blood of the people and in the parliament over the election law and the rights of the scattered, and tomorrow we will see it in the parliament and with the elimination of the victims of the Al-Mafaa and Tayouneh explosions together. No to obliterating the truth with the biggest explosion that Lebanon and the world witnessed in return for securing the innocence of the criminal.”

The former minister, Richard Koyumjian, responded to Bassil by saying, “Shut up, you despicable liar. Be ashamed, O title of theft, failure and collapse.” He added, “When you forge the truth, at least hide your face from the victims of the port and the mothers of Ain al-Remmaneh, because they know who the real criminal is.”

Likewise, a member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, MP Ali Bazzi, responded to Bassil, saying: “The goal of all your tweets is to overthrow the consensus that was established between the presidents and His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Ra’i and take the country towards ruin.”
