DUBAI, 26th October / WAM / The Board of Trustees of “Suqia Emirates” Foundation, under the umbrella of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives” Foundation, held its third meeting for the year 2021 via video communication technology, chaired by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Council: His Excellency Sultan Muhammad Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; His Excellency Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Vice President for Scientific Research at UAE University; Engineer Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Production Sector at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority; Engineer Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence Sector at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority; Mr. Mohammed Abdul Karim Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of the Emirates Water Authority; And Eng. Hamid Abdullah Al Hammadi, Acting Secretary of the Council.
The meeting dealt with the developments of the third cycle of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award”, which attracted participation from 56 countries around the world, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to Countries participating for the first time, including Algeria, Kenya, Israel, Australia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malawi, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Zambia. The council also discussed the progress of the processes of sorting and evaluating applications according to the highest international standards.
The Council reviewed the Foundation’s progress reports and the latest developments in international projects and activities during the year 2021, as the number of beneficiaries of “Suqia Al Emarat” projects reached more than 13 million people in 36 countries through the implementation of more than 1,000 sustainable water projects around the world so far.
