The Sudanese Ministry of Information said that a number of civilian officials in the government and the Transitional Council, including Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, have been arrested.
She added that Hamdok was transferred to an unknown location after refusing to issue a statement supporting the ongoing military coup, before they were reportedly placed under house arrest.
Hamdok was appointed prime minister in 2019 after the overthrow of former President Omar al-Bashir.
