Esperance player Hamdou El-Houni suffered a severe injury during his participation against the Libyan Al-Ittihad, on Sunday evening, in the second leg of the second preliminary round of the African Champions League.
With the advent of the 76th minute, and when the result indicated that Esperance had advanced with a goal without a response, Libyan Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Moaz Al-Lafi intervened with his foot in the face of Al-Huni to drop him to the ground and then stopped playing for minutes.
Ibrahim Nour El-Din, the referee of the match, showed the card in the face of the Libyan Al-Ittihad goalkeeper, amid an objection from Al-Lafi, to leave the field and complete his team with 10 players.
Hamdou El-Huni left the field after suffering an injury, so the Esperance coach decided to pay Foussini Coulibaly instead.
Tunisia’s Esperance qualified for the group stage of the African Champions League, after its 1-0 victory over its guest, Al-Ittihad, on Sunday, in the second leg of the 32nd round of the continental competition.
