The UAE will host the international emergency exercise CONFEX-3 on October 26-27, 2021 at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
This exercise is part of the ongoing efforts to raise the level of preparedness and ensure the strengthening of response capabilities in accordance with international standards, in line with international emergency preparedness agreements.
This exercise is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency, and implemented under the supervision of the National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management, in accordance with the legislative framework of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.
With the participation of more than 170 countries and global organizations, and more than 10 local entities, the exercise is one of the most advanced emergency simulation exercises in the world.
The exercise includes a realistic simulation of a number of emergencies at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and its surroundings, with the aim of measuring the level of readiness of the UAE and ensuring compliance with the highest international standards of safety, security and transparency.
