Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8 comes with its biggest upgrade in a long time. Although it is not much different from the previous model in terms of design.

However, the upgrades made by the company in terms of hardware and specifications made it a distinguished option, so it became a suitable choice for those looking for a touch screen computer running Windows 11.

Comprehensive Surface Pro 8 review

Design and screen

The most prominent update provided by Microsoft in the Surface Pro 8 is the screen, which comes with a 13-inch touch screen and a resolution of 2880 x 1920, and it has clearly smaller side edges.

The screen also supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and the extra frames are expected to make a big difference in daily use.

The device supports Adaptive Color, which automatically adjusts screen brightness based on your surroundings.

However, Microsoft has not used a dynamic refresh rate that allows the monitor to change the refresh rate automatically.

In terms of exterior design, the Surface Pro 8 comes with rounded corners and an anodized aluminum body.

On the right side, there are two Type-C ports, both of which support Thunderbolt 4.

The device still supports the Surface Connect port for fast charging, and on the left side there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a speaker that supports surround sound technology.

Cameras on Surface Pro 8

Above the screen is a 5-megapixel webcam, as well as two pairs of microphone and infrared sensors that support Windows Hello authentication for login.

The camera also performs well in low light conditions, and there is a 10MP camera on the back that allows you to shoot 4K video.

keyboard and pen

The separately sold Surface Pro Signature Keyboard Cover is engineered from carbon fiber. And it looks much more powerful than previous models.

The keyboard housing also features a slot at the top for charging the redesigned Surface Slim Pen 2, which uses wireless charging.

The pen comes with a built-in haptic motor that makes you feel like you’re actually writing on paper while you’re drawing or taking notes.

However only a small group of apps currently support this haptic feedback, so you should wait for more apps that support it to be released.

Specifications and price

The Surface Pro 8 comes with a choice of 11th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 quad-core processor and RAM starting from 8GB and up to 32GB.

It is also available in four models of storage capacity starting from 128 and up to 1 TB of SSD type.

Pricing starts at $1,099 for a Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Battery life and operating system

According to Microsoft, the battery life in the Pro 8 computer can last up to 16 hours on a single charge, and it can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in an hour.

The device also uses a fan-based active cooling system in addition to a steam room with three heat pipes and three graphite heat spreaders.

The device comes pre-installed with Windows 11, as well as free utility applications such as the clipchamp video editor.
