The vegetarian diet has become popular among footballers, as Roma defender Chris Smalling has announced that he has decided to limit his diet to plant foods.
For its part, English second-tier Forest Green Rovers have become an all-vegetarian club. Chelsea became the first Premier League team to open a vegan food store to the public.
Now it’s Paul Pogba’s turn to design a shoe that is 100 percent vegan, and not specific to any gender.
The French national team star collaborated with designer Stella McCartney, to design Adidas shoes, made from recycled materials.
Pogba said the idea sprung up in his mind after a discussion with McCartney in May 2020 during the lockdown.
“I was really excited about playing football at the time. It was a great feeling to focus on something that combines my love for football and my passion for fashion.”
“First of all, I am a footballer. But I have a great interest in fashion, and I’ve always wanted to explore this field more,” he added.
McCartney previously helped design the shirts for the British Olympic and Paralympic Team. She said, “I heard about his passion for fashion, and knew the interests we shared. This is what motivated us to collaborate on the design of this beautiful shoe.”
“One of the most remarkable things is the place of fashion in his character on and off the field, so this had to be shown in the design.”
