The rates of infection with the new Corona virus in Egypt witnessed a remarkable increase during the past week, according to official data issued by the Ministry of Health and Population.

By reading the daily data of the Ministry of Health regarding the developments of the Corona virus, we discover that the rate of infection with the Corona virus in Egypt reached 321,967 today, while it was last Friday at 316,711, i.e. an increase of 5,256 cases.

The official data of the Ministry indicated that the cases of recovery from the virus rose from 267,355 cases last week to 271,792 cases today, an increase of 4,437 cases of recovery.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Health and Population, on Thursday, March 4, 2021, began vaccinating eligible categories of citizens with the Corona virus vaccine, and they are patients with tumors, kidney failure, and those with chronic diseases.

The steps for citizens to obtain the first and second doses of the emerging coronavirus vaccines came through more than one stage, starting with registration on the website, www.egcovac.mohp.gov.eg. Then, the categories due during registration on the website are divided into 3 groups in accordance with The priorities are universally recognized, and the citizen chooses the group to which he belongs, as the groups include workers in the medical sector, or the groups most vulnerable to infection from non-medical workers, who are those with chronic diseases and the elderly. Citizens receive the “Sinopharma” vaccine on the second dose 21 days (3 weeks) after receiving the first dose, while those vaccinated with the “AstraZeneca” vaccine receive their second dose 12 weeks after receiving the first dose.

It is noteworthy that an office has been allocated in health units and hospitals at the level of all governorates of the Republic to register citizens of eligible categories who cannot register on the website to obtain the emerging corona virus vaccine.

This comes at a time when the Ministry of Health and Population is intensifying its efforts to confront the third wave of the emerging Corona virus pandemic, as it has prepared 363 hospitals to receive Corona patients in all governorates of the Republic, with 34,275 beds available in internal departments, and 2,383 intensive care beds.
