The murder case in Jerusalem 35 years ago: This morning (Thursday), the Israel Police arrested two more suspects, on suspicion of their involvement in murders and absences that took place in the Jerusalem area decades ago. These arrests are in addition to the dramatic arrests earlier this week.
Detectives from the Central District of the Jerusalem District arrested two other suspects last night and this morning, in their 60s, a resident of Jerusalem and a resident of Petah Tikva, on suspicion of involvement in murder cases and the absence of boy Nissim Sheetrit, who has been under police investigation for more than 30 years. The detainees are suspected of involvement in the murder of Avi Edri in 1990 and in the absence of Nissim Sheetrit from 1986.
Following their arrest, the two were taken for questioning to the Central Unit in the Jerusalem District. Later in the day, police are expected to bring them before the court to extend their detention. Police are also expected to request today the extension of the detention of another suspect who was arrested earlier this week.
The detainees were previously members of Eliezer Berland’s “Shuvu Banim” congregation.
So far, eight suspects have been arrested in the “murder and disappearance” case, murders and kidnappings that occurred more than 30 years ago in Jerusalem. The investigative actions since then have not led to a breakthrough, but following the film “Hidden Rabbi” broadcast here 11, by journalist Shani Haziza, the possibility arose that there is a connection between the cases and the members of the “Chastity Guards” in the “Shuvu Banim” community of the criminal Eliezer Berland.
It should be noted that the storks deny any connection to the affair and say that the suspects have not been part of the community for many years.
