The director of the Algerian company “Sonatrach” revealed that the unconventional reserves of gas energy are “very significant”, adding that they cover 150 years of consumption and export in the current form.

In his interview with Algerian TV, Hakkar added that unconventional energies, such as shale oil and gas and sand oil, require new means and technologies to extract them.

Regarding oil production, Hakkar said that Algeria’s production capacity amounts to 1.1 million barrels per day, pointing out that the national oil production has not decreased and has reached 937,000 barrels per day since last September, according to the monthly OPEC report.

Hakkar expected Sonatrach’s hydrocarbon revenues to reach $33 billion by the end of the current year, after reaching $25.115 billion until September 9.
