British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss
The British Foreign Office announced that Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will visit Saudi Arabia and Qatar this week to discuss strengthening trade relations with the Gulf.
The Foreign Ministry indicated that Truss will meet her Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during her tour.
She is scheduled to discuss cooperation on Afghanistan during her visit to Qatar.
Earlier this month, Britain took the first steps to launch trade negotiations with the Gulf Cooperation Council.
“I would like there to be a trade and investment relationship with the Gulf, and an opportunity to collaborate more closely on the exchange of information between intelligence, development, security and defense,” said Truss, a former commerce secretary.
