Dr. Ayman Hamza, spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, pointed out that Europe is in need of electric energy, and there is a tendency to export energy to it, noting that the African continent possesses huge amounts of renewable sources of energy.
The Egyptian-Greek-Cypriot tripartite cooperation mechanism represents a model for cooperation and regional integration, as its three parties are keen on its regularity. The first summit was held in Cairo in November 2014, the second in Cyprus in April 2015, the third in Greece in December 2015, the fourth in 2016 in Cairo, the fifth in Cyprus in November 2017, the sixth in Greece in October 2018, the seventh in Cairo in October 2019, and the eighth in Cyprus in October 2020. It is noted that the last three years have witnessed the establishment of October as a periodic date for the summit, which has become a fundamental pillar to ensure the security and stability of the Eastern Mediterranean region, and a nucleus for the development of joint policies in light of the sharing of interests, concerns and orientations.
He pointed out that the tripartite partnership is based on common interests and values and contributes to supporting peace, security and economic development in the Eastern Mediterranean region, through coordination regarding regional and international files in the sectors of security, energy, economy, culture and environment.
