Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, met with Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, in the presence of Juma Al Kait, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade Affairs, and Jamal Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the Emirates Council for Investors Abroad, in order to enhance investment cooperation Between the two countries, they discussed increasing the volume of Emirati investments in Egypt.


Agreeing to form a joint committee

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the most important targeted investment sectors in Egypt and the promising opportunities in them, and the most prominent steps taken by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones to facilitate for investors and create a business environment.

During the meeting, Counselor Mohamed Abdel Wahab stressed the authority’s keenness to support Emirati investments, praising the success stories of a number of Emirati companies in Egypt, which motivated many Emirati investment companies and institutions to pump new investments.

Abdel Wahab indicated that the success of the economic cooperation strategy between the two countries was reflected in the UAE being the first in the Arab world among the countries investing in Egypt, where the investments of Emirati companies vary in various sectors, stressing the authority’s keenness to increase the pace of cooperation by organizing more promotional events, to showcase Investment opportunities in Egypt on the Emirati side.

He explained that it was agreed with the Emirati minister to form a permanent working group between the two sides to facilitate all areas of investment cooperation, and to identify the Emirates Council for Investors Abroad as a point of contact on the Emirati side.

For his part, the Emirati minister praised the development of the investment environment in Egypt, and the effective role played by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones in facilitating the work of Emirati companies in Egypt, praising the measures taken to solve the challenges facing investors.
