The US judiciary has officially approved the change of the singer’s name, known as Kanye West, to “Ye”, without any nickname or second name.
A Los Angeles court spokesman confirmed to AFP that a judge in the western US city had formally approved the name change based on the request made by the 44-year-old rapper at the end of August for “personal reasons”.
During his divorce proceedings with American reality TV star Kim Kardashian, the singer expressed his desire to adopt the name “Ye”, a nickname he was known for a long time, in all official transactions, thus dispensing with his name Kanye Amri West.
In 2018, the rapper released an album titled “Ye”.
Last summer, the rapper released a long-awaited two-hour album containing 27 songs, titled “Donda”, the name of his mother, who died in 2007.
