Yesterday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that the direct losses incurred by Egypt in 2011 amounted to 400 billion dollars, equivalent to 6 trillion pounds.

Al-Sisi pointed out that Egypt was almost exposed to destruction at the time as a result of an unrealistic description of reality.

During the opening of a group of alternative housing projects for unsafe areas in the Sixth of October City, yesterday, Saturday, he stressed the need for real awareness and description of the problems.

This was not the first time that the Egyptian President spoke about the impact and repercussions of the events of 2011 on Egypt. During the launch of the National Strategy for Human Rights about a month ago, he said that he considers 2011 (the January Revolution) to announce a death certificate for the Egyptian state, given the state of stalemate. That affected various fields in the country, including culture, education and health.

He explained that there are many challenges with the presence of an element for 90 years that gnaws at the bone, mind and awareness of man in Egypt,” apparently referring to the birth date of the Brotherhood in the late twenties of the last century.

Sisi is seen by a wide spectrum of Egyptians as the country’s savior from the Brotherhood, which seized power in 2012 before being overthrown by a popular revolution in 2013.
