The opposition judge in the South Cairo Court, held at the Sayeda Zeinab Courts Complex, today, Saturday, ordered the renewal of the detention of two women for 15 days, pending investigations, for accusing them of stealing old post office patrons in Old Cairo.

The prosecution had ordered the detention of the two accused for 4 days pending investigation, and also called on the detectives to speed up investigations into the incident and the two accused to find out their criminal activities and complete the investigations.

The investigation unit of the Old Cairo Police Department in the Cairo Security Directorate was able to arrest two women – residing in the Moharram Bek Police Department in Alexandria Governorate – “with criminal information”, if they attempted to steal a sum of money from inside the bag of one of the women in the department’s department in a “pickpocket” manner, and searched them. They were found in possession of (a sum of money – a visa card – a white weapon).

Confronting them, they confessed that they had formed a gang specialized in stealing the belongings of elderly citizens, if they frequented post offices. They added that the money and visa were from the proceeds of their criminal activity.

The necessary legal measures were taken, and the prosecution, which undertook the investigation, was notified.
