“The counting is complete”… Iraq awaits the final election results

The political parties and currents in Iraq are awaiting the official announcement of the final results of the parliamentary elections that were held last Sunday, after the Prime Minister’s advisor for election affairs announced, today, Saturday, the completion of manual counting.

Abdul-Hussein Al-Hindawi confirmed that the counting and manual counting in all quarantined polling stations had been completed.

“matching mail”

He also added, according to what was reported by the Iraqi News Agency, that “the results of the manual counting were identical to the electronic one.”

The Independent High Electoral Commission had announced earlier today that 95% of the manual counting had been completed in all the 3,681 stations. Imad Jamil, a member of the media team at the commission, said that “the results of the manual count were identical with the electronic results, and this was done in the presence of the entities and observers monitors.” internationals”.

He also explained that “the results of these stations were added to the preliminary results,” adding that the total number of complaints amounted to 356.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi government has confirmed more than once during the past few days that the elections were fair and professional. Cabinet spokesman Hassan Nazim said that some parties’ comments on the electoral process are “legitimate”, but there is a law regulating objections.

Big Bloc Consultations

He also stressed that the government had received praise for the integrity of the elections and international recognition.

It is noteworthy that with the announcement of the final results, the intensity of the consultations is accelerating in order to form the largest bloc in Parliament, with the aim of obtaining the strongest pressure card in forming the government.

The Sadrist movement, led by Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, achieved remarkable success in this election, garnering, according to preliminary results, more than 70 seats, while the Al-Fateh Alliance, which includes factions of the Popular Mobilization loyal to Iran, recorded a painful loss.

However, despite these facts, observers rule out that al-Sadr alone will be able to form a government, unless he negotiates with others.
