The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, provided nearly two billion US dollars to enhance food security and nutrition in 58 needy countries, through which 631 projects were implemented aimed at securing and distributing thousands of tons of food baskets, dates and sacrificial meat. In addition to operating bakeries, providing nutritional needs for children and mothers, and providing agricultural aid, millions of needy, displaced and refugees in those countries benefited.

And the Saudi Press Agency stated, today, Saturday, that famine and the loss of food security constitute one of the most prominent risks that the international community and the United Nations seek to combat in needy and developing countries, as it threatens the lives of millions of people, and is one of the causes of death in the world, surpassing many diseases. The deadly and dangerous viruses with a wide spread, including the Corona virus, according to international reports issued in this regard, in addition to the waves of mass displacement that they cause and fueling conflicts and strife.

Yemen received the largest share of the center’s humanitarian projects in the food security and nutrition sectors, with 125 projects, covering all Yemeni governorates without any discrimination, with a value exceeding one billion and 500 million US dollars, including contributions of 244 million dollars made during the current year through the World Food Program; It targets more than 13 million beneficiaries per month from the most vulnerable groups.

The World Food Program confirmed, in a statement last July, that the Kingdom’s contributions prevented a famine in Yemen, explaining that without the Kingdom’s contribution, the humanitarian response to save lives in Yemen cannot continue.
