Al-Ahly will play its first match against the National Guard at 5:30 p.m., tomorrow, Saturday, at General Seni Konchi Stadium in the capital, Niamey, in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League.
The red team played its last and only training in the match stadium today, which included some physical aspects and a strong division in the half of the field, while the goalkeepers trained individually before participating in the division.
Al-Ahly’s mission in Niger, headed by Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of football, includes 19 players: Ali Lotfi, Mustafa Schubert, Hamza Alaa, Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Mahmoud Kahraba, Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Sharif, Walid Suleiman, Ayman Ashraf, Badr Banon, Aliou Diang, Amr Al-Suliya, Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Mahmoud, Akram Tawfiq and Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed Hani and Ahmed Nabil Koca.
The list saw the exclusion of Mohamed El-Shennawy, Mahmoud Metwally, Mahmoud Waheed for injury, Mohamed Magdy Afsha for obtaining a wedding leave, Hussein El-Shahat and Salah Mohsen for lack of technical readiness, in addition to the hexagons that were not registered, and they are Louis Mixoni, Percy Tao, Hussam Hassan, Karim Fouad, Ammar Hamdi and Ahmed Abdelkader for not being registered.
According to the last training and lectures before traveling to Niger, coach Pitso Mosimane is still choosing between two ways to compensate for the absence of Mohamed Magdy “Afsha”, the team’s playmaker, who celebrated his wedding yesterday in a hotel in the Fifth Settlement and was absent from traveling with the mission.
Musimani prefers to play with three in the center of the defending field, namely Amr Al-Sulayeh, Hamdi Fathi and Alio Diang, provided that a pair of them with offensive tasks and one of them commits to defensive duties, while a member of the supporting staff believes that Mohamed Mahmoud should be paid in the playmaker center as a substitute for Afsha, provided that there be a duo in Midfield defender.
The remarkable brilliance of Mohamed Hani also raised a state of confusion for Mosimani, who tends to push him mainly in the right-back position and keep Akram Tawfiq on the bench to keep him from fatigue, especially as he played the two matches of Libya with the national team in 72 hours in the third and fourth rounds of Group F competitions African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
Musimani settled on most of the elements of the formation in which he will play the match, and it includes Ali Lotfi in guarding the goal, along with Akram Tawfiq (Mohamed Hani), Badr Banon, Ayman Ashraf, Ali Maaloul, Amr Al-Sulayya, Hamdi Fathi, Elio Diang (Mohamed Mahmoud), Mahmoud Kahraba, Taher Mohamed Taher and Mohamed Sharif.
