The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced Thursday, October 14, that Tehran and the European Union agreed to hold further talks in Brussels, the headquarters of the European Union, on resuming talks on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal.

The European Union’s coordinator for nuclear talks with Iran, Enrique Mora, arrived in Tehran on Thursday and met Ali Bagheri, the deputy foreign minister for political affairs, at the Foreign Ministry building in Tehran.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website, it was emphasized during the meeting to improve relations between Iran and the European Union, and it was decided that: “In the upcoming talks in Brussels, practical topics and contexts for expanding relations will be discussed.”
Iranian media reported that lifting sanctions on Iran, developments in Afghanistan, as well as relations between Iran and the European Union, were three topics discussed during Enrique Mora’s meeting with Ali Bagheri.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg News quoted informed sources as saying that the meeting was held to prepare for Iran’s return to the nuclear deal talks.
Before arriving in Tehran, Mora wrote on his Twitter account, referring to the meeting with Iranian government officials on Thursday, that he would stress the “necessity of resuming” the Vienna talks.
On Thursday, in conjunction with the issuance of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s statement, a spokesman for Josep Borrell, the European Union foreign policy coordinator, said that he was waiting for a response from Washington and Tehran to invite the two parties to the nuclear deal talks to attend a meeting.
Talks have stalled in the wake of Iran’s 2021 presidential election, and it remains unknown when they will resume.
Ibrahim Raisi’s government says it will return to the talks, but only after reviewing what happened in the previous talks.
On the other hand, the news and reports indicate that the patience of the parties opposing Iran is over.
On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned in a meeting with his Israeli counterpart that the United States was prepared to consider “other options” if diplomacy did not work.
