The United States recovered from conceding a goal in the first minute to win 2-1 against its guest Costa Rica, in a match held at dawn today, Thursday, in the North American qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.
After losing a surprising 0-1 against Panama earlier this week, America started its match against Costa Rica badly when it conceded an early goal by a Costa Rican goal signed by Kesher Fuller.
But Serginio Dest equalized for the hosts in the 25th minute, and America decided the victory with a Lionel Moreira own goal in the middle of the second half.
America raised its score to 11 points in second place, three points behind Mexico, which won 2-0 at its host El Salvador, while Costa Rica fell to fifth place with six points.
Canada jumped to third place with 10 points after turning its back to a 4-1 victory over Panama, which fell to fourth place with eight points.
Jamaica moved away from last place by beating hosts Honduras 2-0, which has become bottom of the standings.
The top three places will qualify directly for the finals in Qatar, while the fourth place will enter the global qualifiers.
