He said: “As for the threat to resort to other methods to try to suppress Judge Bitar, I call, from here, on the free Lebanese people, to be ready for a comprehensive and peaceful general closure, in case the other party tries to use other means to impose its will by force.”
Geagea’s words came in a statement after the meeting of the “Strong Republic” bloc, which was held under his leadership at the headquarters of the “Lebanese Forces” party in Maarab. The meeting was attended by: Former Deputy Prime Minister Ghassan Hasbani, Deputy Party Chairman MP George Adwan, Representatives: Pierre Bou Assi, George Okeis, Imad Wakim, Ziad Hawat, Wahbi Qatisha, Fadi Saad, Antoine Habashi, Majed Eddy Abi Al-Lama`, Joseph Ishak and Anis Nassar Former ministers: May Chidiac, Richard Qyoumjian and Melhem Riachy, Bloc Secretary, former MP Fadi Karam, former MP Antoine Zahra, Secretary-General Dr. Ghassan Yared, member of the Executive Board Elie Braghid, head of the Media and Communications Authority Charles Jabbour, and advisor to the party leader, Saeed Malek.
Geagea had begun his statement by saying: “For tons of nitrates to explode in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut, and overthrow human beings, stones and the dignity of the homeland, this is a matter for consideration. That is an unforgivable crime. For thousands of women, men, the elderly, and children to die and be injured on the roads and in their homes, and people’s homes to be destroyed, there is no power or strength except with God. As for calling people as many as the fingers of one hand to questioning and investigation, then woe, destruction and great matters.”
He pointed out that “this is the inverted logic prevailing in Lebanon for years and years, coupled with the language of imposition, threat, force, coercion and red and zero lines, with the aim of falsifying facts, reversing the facts, mixing poison with fat, killing the dead and walking his funeral, with the aim of desecrating more and more sovereignty and how much free voices, taming proud souls and encircling fortresses. Truth, revolution, and freedom in Lebanon as long as they remain.
Geagea considered that “what is happening today with Judge Bitar, and what happened yesterday with Judge Sawan, does not deviate from this rule. As for the head of Judge Bitar or the head of the government, it is either Quba al-Bitar or the bombing of the street and the bombing of the country and, of course, the bombing of the government!”
Geagea stressed that “the successive submission to the equations of intimidation that have continued for years has brought the Lebanese people to what they are today, so any additional blackmail to which the presidencies of the Republic and the government are subject regarding the investigations of the port crime is an additional nail, and perhaps the last, in the coffin of the rest of the Lebanese state.” And it is a great moral blow to the judicial institution, of which internal and external public opinion still depends, even if part of it, for the establishment of a state of truth, freedom and law after a long wait, which is direct or indirect participation in the crime of bombing the port, and that the partner in the crime is no less responsible than the direct criminal.
He explained, “What is required today from the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the government as a whole is to bear their responsibility in refusing to submit to Hezbollah’s intimidation, and if they stop the investigations into the port file subject to this intimidation, they must resign immediately, starting with the President of the Republic, who is supposed to be watchful of respecting the constitution, passing by. Head of government and up to the government.
He continued: “As for the threat to resort to other methods to try to suppress Judge Bitar, I call, from here, on the free Lebanese people, to be ready for a comprehensive and peaceful general closure, in case the other party tries to use other means to impose its will by force.”
He concluded: “The truth is superior and is not above it, and that the judiciary will say its final word, no matter how many obstacles and tongues speaking falsehood rise, and if falsehood has a round, then the truth has a thousand rounds and rounds.”
