David Malpass, President of the World Bank, praised Egypt’s efforts in facing the challenges of the Corona pandemic, and its impact on the tourism, agriculture, logistics and electricity sectors, and the challenges these sectors are witnessing, pointing out that Egypt has made progress in this with the importance of strengthening the health system.

David Malpass added in a press conference, during the annual meetings of the World Bank in Washington, that the bank is cooperating with Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon in the Corona vaccination programs and the distribution of vaccines, in addition to working to support Jordan in facing the influx of Syrian refugees and seeking to join them in the labor market through official permits.

The President of the World Bank stressed the importance of countries not supporting polluting activities or those that emit harmful emissions such as coal, fossil fuels, and some agriculture, with the importance of imposing a carbon tax, and encouraging digital transformation for its role in reducing pollution and expanding technology.

In a question about the Indian economy, he indicated that India was greatly affected by the waves of Corona, especially the informal sector, which witnessed a setback, but it advanced in vaccination and the production of vaccines and gradually began to recover, calling for the need to improve resources and integrate the informal economy, especially since the progress it is making is still Insufficient.
