Large firefighters are operating at this time (Wednesday) in a fire that broke out in Mevaseret Zion. Due to the fear of the fire spreading, firefighters began evacuating residents’ homes on the first line. So far at least two houses have been evacuated and the police together with the fire brigade are preparing to evacuate more houses.
The fire broke out around 22:30 in the evening, a call was received at the District Control Center about burning a grove near the house line at 57 Shoshana Street in the city of Mevaseret. “Firefighters from the Beit Shemesh station who rushed to the scene identified an evolving fire that endangered the peace of the residents and ordered the immediate evacuation of two houses,” the Jerusalem District Fire Brigade said tonight.
At the moment, 8 teams are working at the site and additional forces have been launched from the city of Jerusalem. At this time, the forces are preparing to evacuate the residents from the line of houses on the parallel street.
Deputy clerk Reuven Yitzhak, commander of the Beit Shemesh station who is in charge of the incident, said: “We received a call about a certain fire between Shoshana Street and Saadia Gaon Street. “Damage to yards. We are now working to gain control of the fire.”
