The Art Gallery of New York University Abu Dhabi will launch the exhibition “Modernities: Flashes of Iran, Turkey and India from the Abbey Wade Gray Collection at New York University” on November 15.

The American Abbey Wade Gray collected her art holdings during her many trips in the sixties and early seventies of the last century, as she traveled to various countries of Asia in search of works of modern art, and worked on acquiring prints, drawings, paintings and sculptures that later formed the nucleus of the Abbey Wade Gray collection of art. Modern from Asia and the Middle East, which is housed in the Gray Museum of Art at New York University.

Maya Allison, Gallery Executive Director, said: “We are delighted to welcome our audience back to the Gallery, especially on the occasion of this highly-connected historical exhibition. Abe Wade Gray has endeavored throughout her life to promote and support international artistic exchange, in keeping with our mission at the university. The Abbey Wade Gray Art Collection is a valuable example of the importance of collecting art today, as it contributes to the study and documentation of art history in the future.
