ABU DHABI, 13 October / WAM / Today, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology signed memoranda of understanding with 12 industrial entities, which will form the “Industry Pioneers Network 4.0”, along with the departments of economic development in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ajman, in order to start the executive steps of the program to adopt the applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Which was announced within the “50 projects” under the name “Industry 4.0”.
The memorandums of understanding were signed in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, His Excellency Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology, and His Excellency Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution Program “Industry 4.0” was launched earlier this month as part of the “50 Projects”, and is designed to accelerate the integration of Fourth Industrial Revolution / 4IR / solutions and applications into the industrial sector in the UAE with the aim of enhancing the state’s industrial competitiveness, reducing costs, Increasing productivity, raising efficiency, improving quality and safety, and creating new job opportunities.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution Program “Industry 4.0” aims to increase industrial productivity by 30% and add 25 billion dirhams to the GDP over the next ten years, as a main pillar of the “300 billion project” that aims to raise the level of the industrial sector’s contribution to the GDP 300 billion dirhams in ten years.
The “Pioneers of the Fourth Industrial Revolution 4.0” network is one of the main components of the program, where leading local and international companies will cooperate to exchange best practices in the dissemination of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in the industrial sector in the UAE. The participating entities include the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Edge, Honeywell, Unilever, Ericsson, Schneider Electric, Emirates Global Aluminium, Microsoft, Cisco, SAP, Aviva and Siemens.
The program seeks to facilitate the establishment of 100 leading companies in the field of applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in line with the classifications approved by the World Economic Forum, in addition to providing the necessary environment to attract or establish 500 companies specialized in technology by 2031. These companies will be a mainstay for achieving the goals of increasing productivity. innovation and efficiency in its sectors.
The program also includes evaluating more than 200 national industrial companies in the country and supporting their transformation towards the applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber said: “In line with the vision of the wise leadership, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology focuses on enhancing the contribution of the industrial sector to GDP growth, enabling economic diversification and the transition towards a knowledge economy. The Fourth Industrial Revolution Program “Industry 4.0” is the first of its kind in the Middle East and will focus on two parallel tracks that include: building a foundation for technology in existing industries in the UAE, and promoting the development of new industries that rely mainly on advanced technology.
For her part, Her Excellency Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri said: The Fourth Industrial Revolution is the cornerstone and the first step through which we seek to advance the national industrial sector and enable comprehensive and sustainable economic growth.
