Juma Saeed Al Balushi, Vice President of the Swimming Federation, confirmed that the first phase of the national team, which was held over a period of 4 weeks, with gatherings of 3 days at the end of each week, was completed, and then participated in the IBEX Championship in Hamdan Complex in Dubai on October 8 and 9, and to identify the most prominent numbers of players and the extent They benefited from the stages of preparation, and the development of their levels, and that in light of the first preparation stage and the numbers of the IBEX championship, the list of the national team for youth boys and girls, and for junior boys and girls as well, that will participate in the Arab championship, was selected in light of their numbers and their chances of achieving medals in the championship.
Al-Balushi said: The IBEX tournament was a real indicator of the level of players and players of the national team, as it is their first official test after the pandemic within the country, and among the most important gains that resulted from the emergence of 3 players, Youssef Al-Matrooshi, Salem Ghaleb and Ahmed Al-Marzouqi, and their smashing of their previous numbers. Youssef Al Matrooshi has set unprecedented numbers in the history of Emirati swimming, because he broke the 50-second barrier in the 100-meter freestyle distance, and set a new record for the first time, which is 49.57 seconds, and he also broke the local record in the 200-meter distance, recording 1:49 minutes , after the local number was 1:53 minutes.
The list of players selected for the Arab Championship includes two players from the girls’ team under 18 years old, they are Sarah Okasha and Alia Rashid Al-Ahmad, while the women’s team under 15 years old includes 3 players, the three sisters are Mira, Mahra and Maha Al-Shehhi, and for the boys team in the under-18 stage, it includes The list is 7 players: Mohammed Al Hammadi, Nasser Al Mansouri, Zayed Rashid, Salem Ghaleb, Youssef Al Matrooshi, Abdullah Al Hammadi and Saeed Ahmed Farag. As for the juniors under 15 years category, the list includes 6 players: Omar Al-Hattawi, Hussein Al-Sayegh, Saif Rashid Al-Hammadi, Ahmed Al-Marzouqi, Saif Gharib and Muhammad Al-Hammadi. They have to represent the state at this important event.
The Vice-President of the Federation explained that the team will start a closed camp in Abu Dhabi at the Armed Forces Officers Club from next Monday, until the start of the Arab Championship competitions on the 28th of this month.
