Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports of sanitary ware increased by 40% during the first 8 months of 2021 to record $110 million, compared to $78 million during the same period 2020.
The report of the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractories and Metal Industries stated that Egypt exported sanitary ware to 88 countries, including 16 countries that were not exported during the same period of 2020, namely: Japan, Congo, Zaire, Benin, Hong Kong, Burundi, Singapore, Guinea, Kosovo, Ethiopia, Mexico, Pakistan, Suriname, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Mali, Chile.
The report indicated that 9 countries accounted for 71.4% of the total sanitary ware exports during the mentioned period, led by the Federal Republic of Germany with a value of $33.636 million, followed by “Britain and Northern Ireland” with a value of $17.436 million.
He pointed out that Libya comes in third place among the list of the largest countries importing sanitary ware from Egypt with a value of 6.255 million dollars, followed by Italy with a value of 6.165 million dollars.
Sanitary ware exports to France amounted to $4,744 million, Jordan $4.284 million, South Africa $2.237 million, America $2.184 million, and Saudi Arabia $2.105 million.
The report pointed out that the exports of ceramics, tiles, roofs and bricks of porcelain decreased by 10% during the first eight months of 2021 to record about $72 million, compared to $80 million during the same period in 2020.
He explained that Egypt has exported ceramics to 58 countries, including 13 countries that were not exported during the same period of 2020: Vietnam, Mayotte, Niger, Islamic Comoros, People’s China, Burkina Faso, Kosovo, Guinea, the Netherlands, Gambia, Brazil, Latvia, Belgium.
The report added that 10 countries accounted for 93.3% of Egypt’s total ceramic exports during the first 8 months of 2021, led by Libya with a value of $21.805 million, followed by Jordan with a value of $15,834 million, then Saudi Arabia with a value of $7.038 million, and Yemen with a value of 6.161 million dollar.
He noted that ceramic exports to Sudan amounted to $5.733 million, Germany $3.826 million, Syria $2.16 million, and Lebanon $2.048 million, while ceramic exports to Gambia recorded $752,000.
