Dr. Gad El-Kady, head of the National Astronomical Research Institute, resolved the controversy regarding rumors about the existence of a relationship between the internet outage and various astronomical phenomena.
The judge explained, during a telephone interview to the Extra News satellite channel, that there is no relationship between the appearance of the dragon meteor showers that decorate the sky and can be seen with the naked eye, and the effect on the Internet or its interruption, saying: “There is no relationship between meteors and the Internet; meteors in general are grains the size of grains. The sand and it is from the dust of asteroids or comets, when it penetrates the Earth’s atmosphere, it burns and descends in a luminous way, like the showers that are now present, which are the dragon.”
During his intervention, the judge stressed that the most important characteristic of the dragon meteors is the possibility of seeing them immediately after sunset until midnight, and they are available in the sky and do not need a telescope.. only to be in a place where there is no strong lighting, and they are spread over a large area of the sky.
Regarding the astronomical phenomena expected during the coming period, Al-Qadi said: “We have one of the meteor showers on 21 and 22, which is the Orionites, and we invite astronomers to monitor it, as well as the two phenomena of the moon’s conjunction with Venus on October 9, and it can be seen with the naked eye.”
