In 2022, the specialists of the Russian “Gamalia” Center for Microbiology intend to begin clinical testing of the standardized vaccine against influenza and coronavirus infection.
This was announced by the head of the center, Alexander Ginsburg, in an interview with the Russian newspaper “Izvestia”. He said that the new vaccine will be based on a hybrid vaccine against rotaviruses. He indicated that the center’s scientists are working at the same time to prepare vaccines against different strains of the coronavirus.
He explained that a technological platform for the new vaccine exists, but its clinical trials have not yet begun. He added, “If all goes well with this platform and its effectiveness is confirmed, we will move to a more complex option, which is to combine the vaccine against influenza and “Covid-19” in one vaccine, and we expect its clinical tests to be launched at the end of the year. next.
However, Professor at the “Gamalia” Center, Alexander Butenko, said that the center’s scientists have begun to develop complex vaccines that will contain antigens for many of the dominant genotypes of the Corona virus that will protect against all strains of the coronavirus.
