The weightlifter of the Saudi national team, Ali Majeed, snatched the first two medals for the Kingdom in the World Weightlifting Championship for Youth under 17 years old, held in Jeddah, after he won the silver medal in the snatch competitions for the weight 55 kg, by lifting it to 100 kg, and the bronze in the total with 215 points on the second day of the championship competitions. It was held yesterday, Wednesday, in the presence of the CEO of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al-Enezi, the President of the International Weightlifting Federation, Dr. Michael Irani, and the President of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee, Mr. Muhammad bin Ahmed Al-Harbi.
Al-Anzi crowned the champions
The CEO of the Olympic Committee, Abdulaziz Al-Enezi, and the Director General of the Islamic Solidarity Union, Muhammad Al-Qarnas, won the silver and bronze medals, amid enthusiasm and encouragement from his fellow Saudi weightlifters.
In the general weight ranking, Thailand’s Batsovong Sok took first place and the gold medal with 223 points, Turkish Ertugrul Segin came second with 221 points, Ali Majid third, and his colleague Muhammad Al-Marzouq fourth with 214 points.

For his part, the hero, Ali Majid Khaliti, dedicated his great achievement to the wise leadership, and said: “This victory came thanks to the unlimited support of my lord the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Highness the Crown Prince – may God preserve them – and the follow-up and keenness of the President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, and the directives of Saudi Weightlifting Federation.
He added, “I dedicate this achievement to my family as well, and to all members of Saudi society,” adding that his victory in silver and bronze is only the beginning of greater achievements, God willing.
Today, Thursday, the championship competitions will continue with the holding of four weight competitions, starting with the 67 kg weight competition for the second group for youth at 10 am, while the 49 kg women’s competitions will be held at 12 noon, in which the Saudi weightlifter Zikra Khurrami participates, and at three pm the 67 kg weight competition will be held. For the first group, the third day’s competitions conclude with the women’s 55-kg competition at 6:00 pm.
