The Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi explains the reason for the appearance of marine snakes on the beaches of the emirate

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Environment Agency in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, explained, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, the reason for monitoring many marine snakes on some of the emirate’s beaches.

The waters of Abu Dhabi are home to sea snakes, known locally as ‘Bogni’. Sea snakes inhabit open waters, shallow waters, coral reefs, and beaches.

Monitoring marine snakes is considered a natural matter, according to the account of the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, and the reason for monitoring their increasing numbers on the beaches of the emirate is due to their gathering during this period near the coastal areas.

The publication explained that fluctuating temperatures, climatic conditions and the state of the sea affect the movement of sea snakes, which leads to their drift to beaches.

If you come across a sea snake on the beach, it is important to consider the following:

  • Avoid touching or catching the snake

  • Maintain a safe distance to ensure your safety

The official account of the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi indicated that in the event of being bitten by a sea snake, the injured must be taken to the hospital as soon as possible.
