Sky Sports revealed that the deal to sell Newcastle United, from its current owner, Mike Ashley, to a Saudi-led financial alliance, may be announced today, Thursday.
As for the BBC, it said: “The approval may come from the English Premier League within 24 hours.”
And the BBC added: “This is after an alliance that includes the Saudi Public Investment Fund and the two companies (PCB Capital Partners) and (Robin Brothers), that the Saudi state will not control the club.”
According to the BBC, this news will delight the club’s fan base, after the Newcastle United Supporters Association poll, on Tuesday, showed that 93% of its members supported the acquisition, after 14 years of Ashley’s control of the club.
The deal is expected to be completed for 300 million euros.
Newcastle suffers in the league, as it is in 19th place with only 3 points from 7 matches.
